Collaborating partners
Since the hotel is situated exceptionally well for the observation of turtles and marine mammals, the Jardin Maoré cooperates with 2 associations to ensure that the development of the hotel remains in perfect harmony with the environment.
The association OULANGA NA NYAMBA
The association Oulanga Na Nyamba (Environment et Turtles) oversees many actions concerning the protection of turtles and environment on Mayotte, for example : sensisation, ecotourism, scientific tracking and the struggle against poaching. It collaborates with the hotel throughout the year to sensitise the clients by organising conferences twice a month (saturday evening) followed by all-day duty the sunday on the premises of the Jardin Maoré. From october to april, when there are no trade winds, the turtles visiting the beach are counted once a month and clients of the hotel are welcome to assist (between 60 and 102 turtles were listed in the course of 4 counting sessions). This action leads to other ecotouristic projects, for instance to ring, to identify and to follow-up the turtles on the beach in collaboration with the "Brigade Tortue" of the Departement of Agriculture and Forestry.
